The Executive Council of the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata has conferred the status of Distinguished Visiting Professor to Prof G.S. Bajpai, Vice-Chancellor, RGNUL, Punjab in July, 2022.

Prof. (Dr.) G. S. Bajpai, Vice-Chancellor, RGNUL, Punjab, has been elected as Secretary-General of the World Society of Victimology (WSV) in its recent meeting held during the 17th symposium in San Sebastian, Spain on 6th June, 2022.

Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai, Vice-Chancellor, RGNUL has been nominated as Member, Advisory Board constituted by the Bar Council of India to bring in improvements add changes to make legal education and profession match the standards of global competition and in tune with the New Education Policy 2020.

Prof. (Dr.) G.S Bajpai has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Patiala. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ravi Shanker Jha, Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court, who is the Chancellor of RGNUL, selected Prof. Bajpai from a panel of three names suggested by the search committee formed in October 2020

Delivered the Inaugural Address on the topic relating to ‘Situational Crimes: Role of GIS and GPS’ on 18th November, 2020. This was part of a “Workshop on Crime mapping and Crime Analysis: Role and Responsibilities of Criminal Justice Functionaries”, organised by LNJN National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science, MHA, GoI, from 18th-20th November 2020.

Invited as a Panellist in the Session V titled ‘Latest Amendments to the Prevention of Corruption Act as an Impetus to the Fight against Corruption’ on 28th October 2020. The session was part of the “National Conference on Vigilance and Anti-Corruption – ‘Vigilant India- Prosperous India’ (‘सतकभारत, समृ भारत’)”, organised by the CBI from 27th-29th October, 2020

Chaired a Technical Session in ‘Let’s Talk: Strategies and Way Forward to Prevent Crime Against Women’, held on 2 nd November 2020, at The Leela Hotel, New Delhi. The discussion was organised by Anandi Empower Foundation.

Chaired a session on Conflict, Intolerance & Role of Criminal Justice System in times of COVID-19, on 30 th October 2020. The title of the chaired speech was Enabling Criminal Justice for Forgiveness and Healing. This was held under the 9 th International Conference on Victim Assistance, organised by Centre for Victimology and Psychological Studies, Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences, O. P. Jindal Global University, from 30-31 October 2020.

Prof. (Dr.) G. S. Bajpai has been elected and felicitated as the Vice-Chairman of the Indian Society of Criminology, at the 42nd All India Criminology Conference.

Prof. (Dr.) G. S. Bajpai has also been re-elected and felicitated as the President of the Indian Society of Victimology, at the Seventh International and Eleventh Biennial Conference of the Indian Society of Victimology.

Invited to conduct a Workshop for Ph.D. scholars on Research and its Methodology. This was organised by the Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, on 15th February 2020, as part of the Course Work for the Third Batch of Ph.D. Programme from February 15, 2020 to February 25, 2020.

Chaired a session in the ISC Conference, titled ‘42nd ALL INDIA CRIMINOLOGY CONFERENCE (INDIAN SOCIETY OF CRIMINOLOGY) from February 20 – 22, 2020. This was organised by the Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh; themed on “Criminology for Global Wellness”.

Elected Vice Chairman of the Indian Society of Criminology (ISC), announced at the 42nd ALL INDIA CRIMINOLOGY CONFERENCE (ISC) from February 20 – 22, 2020.

Invited as a Resource Person in a one week Faculty Development Programme on ‘Research Methodology and Legal Research’, at the Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai, on 15th January 2020.

Chaired a session in a two day National Seminar organised on “Judicial Delays: Maladies and Remedies”, by the University School of Law and Legal Studies, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, on 11th January 2020.

Invited as Resource Person to deliver a lecture on the topic ‘Rights of Victims’, at the Two Days Training Programme for First Class Magistrates on Human Rights: Issue and Challenges, on September 22, 2019. It was organised by the Indian Law Institute in collaboration with National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

Invited as a Resource Person by ‘The Centre for Professional Development in Higher Education (CPDHE), UGC-HRDC, University of Delhi’. It conducted a Refresher Course in Law and Social Transformation (SRC) for the University and College teachers. The two lectures delivered were on Research Methodology and Law and Social Transformation, on 23rd July, 2019.

Invited as a Guest Speaker for a training session in a training programme for students, organised by ‘The Bar Council of India’ along with ‘AIR Law Academy & Research Center’. Delivered a lecture on ‘Victim Advocacy’, for the programme held at the Bar Council of India Auditorium, New Delhi, on 21st July, 2019.

Invited as a Resource Person for a ‘One Week Refresher Course for Law Teachers in Memoriam: Prof. N.R. Madhava Menon and his exemplary contribution to Indian Legal education’. This was organized by ‘School of Law, Jagran Lakecity University’, Bhopal from 2nd-8th July 2019. The lecture was held on the 3rd July, 2019, on the topic “Evolution of Critical Criminal Law”.

Part of the NLUD delegation invited to presented papers at the ‘16th Asian Law Institute (ASLI) Conference 2019’, from 11th-12th June, 2019, at the Bukit Timah Campus, National University of Singapore Faculty of Law; themed “The Rule of Law and the Role of Law in Asia”. A paper was presented titled, “Anti-Radicalization: A Study of Strategies in the State of Maharashtra”. Also served as a moderator in the same conference, in its session on ‘Law & Society’, on 12th June, 2019.

Invited Speaker at the ‘One Week Prof. N. R. Madhava Menon Refresher Course for Law Teachers’, from June 7-June 13, 2019, themed on “March of Law: Legal, Policy and Institutional Challenges to Urban Governance in India: Towards Making Our Cities More Sustainable and Liveable”. Conducted three sessions in this Course on ‘Teaching Methods in Law’ and ‘Research and Ethics’. It was organised by NLS Bangalore, in association with Bar Council of Kerala M. K. Nambyar Academy for Continuing Legal Education Kochi, and Directorate of Municipal Administration, State Government of Karnataka, held at International Training Centre, NLSIU.

Invited as an expert at ‘Institute of Law, Nirma University’, for a Workshop on Research Methodology, on 9 and 10 May, 2019. This was to guide the existing researchers in developing their research skills and introduce them to a range of research strategies and techniques.

Nominated as part of composition of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Ambedkar University Delhi in May 2019. This follows the mandate by NAAC as part of their post-accreditation quality sustenance measure, and is to improve the academic and administrative performance of the institution.

Plenary speaker in the State Conference themed on “Rehabilitation and Combating Traffic on Women and Children in Delhi”, at Delhi Secretariat, New Delhi, on May 8, 2019. Spoke on the issues pertaining to the topic “Trafficking in Human beings especially of women and children, in particular for the purpose of commercial sexual exploitation”

Appointed as an Expert Member of Academic Council, ‘Manav Rachna University’, in April 2019. The University is one of the institutions under Manav Rachna group of Educational Institutions. He is also appointed as a Member of the ‘Standing Committee on Research Methodology for Research Projects’ of BPR&D.

Invited to address the Officer Trainees of the ‘IAS Professional Course Phase-I’ (2018 Batch), on the topic “Victim Compensation and Legal Aid”, on March 7, 2019. This was organised by the ‘Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration’ (Govt. of India), Mussoorie. It was intended for the 182 participants attending the course, officer trainees of the IAS and Royal Bhutan Civil Service.

Invited as Key Speaker on the sub-theme, “Law Enforcement and Vulnerable Groups”, at a two-day National Seminar, themed “Democratic Policing: Gender, Poverty and Development”. This was jointly organised by ‘Madhya Pradesh Police Academy’ (MPPA), Bhopal and ‘Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University of Social Sciences’, on 1-2 March, 2019, at MPPA, Bhopal.

Invited to the ‘1st National Conference on Prosecution’, at ‘Central Academy for Police Training’ (CAPT), Bhopal, 1-2 March, 2019; to conduct an open house session and speak on the topic “Victim Friendly Prosecution”. This Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) initiative was to promote the training of Prosecution officers on various fields and laws. It also required drawing a map for future R&D related to prosecution in the country.

Addressed the participants at ‘Two Days Sensitization Programme for Judicial Officers (District Judges and Judicial Officers), on Human Rights: Issues and Challenges’. This was organised by the ‘Indian Law Institute’ in collaboration with ‘National Human Rights Commission’ (NHRC), on February 24, 2019, at ‘The Indian Law Institute’.

Invited as a Guest Speaker at the ‘Dignity March: To End Sexual Violence against Women and Children’, at Ramlila Maidan, Chandni Chowk, on February 22, 2019. This initiative organised by ‘Rashtriya Garima Abhiyaan’, had survivors and stakeholders travel 10,000 km across 24 states of India from December 20, 2018 to February 22, 2019, speaking about their experiences and creating sensitivity and awareness towards the subject.

Plenary Speaker in the Seminar titled “Towards a Sustainable Environment: Sociological Configurations of Environmental Crime”, on the topic “Global Risk Society vis-a-vis Environmental Crime”. This was jointly organised by Department of Sociology, Stella Maris College, Chennai and Department of Criminology, University of Madras, on February 7, 2019.

Inaugurated a fortnightly Law Journal, titled ‘The Verdict Today’, Vol. 9, started by practicing advocates from various fields, on January 24, 2019.

Appointed as a ‘Review Committee Member’, to evaluate activities of the ‘ICSSR funded Research Institute, ISID’, New Delhi, from January 29-30, 2019. This involved reviewing of its activities regarding India’s industrial development and its database, and creation of its research infrastructure.

Appointed as Chairperson in the technical session titled, ‘Prevention of Cyber Crime: Best Practices’ in the ‘41st All India Criminology Conference’ on the theme ‘Prevention of Crime and Control Strategies in Contemporary World & Way Forward’. This conference was organised by ‘Department of Political Science and Centre of Criminal Justice and Victimology’, Madurai Kamaraj University, in collaboration with ‘The Indian Society of Criminology’, from February 1-3, 2019.

Addressed the audience and participants in ‘41st All India Criminology Conference’, on a speech titled ‘Recent Trends in Victim Justice in India’, as a Plenary Speaker in plenary session 1. This conference was organised by ‘Department of Political Science and Centre of Criminal Justice and Victimology’, Madurai Kamaraj University, in collaboration with ‘The Indian Society of Criminology’, from February 1-3, 2019.

Delivered lecture on “Research Methodology” with special focus on ‘Framing of Hypothesis’, at the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, on January 22, 2019. This was organised to seek guidance, academic help with scholarly counsel for Ph.D. scholars pursuing their course work.

Discussion as an expert, appointed in the ‘Consultative Group of Experts’, at BPR&D Headquarters, New Delhi, on the 21/1/2019. This was to discuss the laying of the road map, identifying topics and expert resource persons for ‘National Conference of Prosecutors’; which is scheduled for February 2019, to be held at ‘Central Academy of Police Training’, Bhopal.

Addressed the audience on the topic, “Law, Crime and Happiness”, in an International Seminar on “Crime and Criminal Justice in Recent Times: Issues of Concern”. This was organised by ‘Centre for Criminology, Victimology and Police Science’, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Bhubaneswar, Orissa, 20th January, 2019.

Addressed the participants of ‘91st Course on Criminology and Forensic Science’, on the subject, ‘Applications of Criminology in Crime Control and Prevention’, on 16 January, 2019. This was for the course organised by ‘LNJN National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science’, New Delhi.

Appointed as the Core Member of a sub-group to work on the project entitled, ‘Use of Community Policing Mechanism to Mitigate Radicalisation and Evolving Effective Mechanism for De-Radicalisation.’ This is by Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), for finalising the strategy to be adopted for effective use of Community Policing with respect to De-radicalisation and Counter Radicalisation; in December 2018.
