
Prof. G.S. Bajpai, Vice-Chancellor, National Law University Delhi, represented the University at the prestigious Asian Law Institute (ASLI) Board of Governors Meeting and the 23rd ASLI Annual Conference, hosted by the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia, Jakarta, from 2–4 June 2026.
The Conference, themed “Empowering Asia’s Rise: Legal Knowledge for Sustainability, Justice and Regional Integration,” brought together leading legal scholars, judges, practitioners, policymakers, and institutional leaders from across Asia and beyond to deliberate on pressing legal challenges and emerging opportunities in the region.
During the Conference, Prof. Bajpai, along with the members of the Board of Governors of the Asian Law Institute (ASLI), was invited to an exclusive meeting with Professor (Dr.) H. Sunarto, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Indonesia. On the occasion, Prof. Bajpai was presented with a memento. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss matters of mutual interest, including legal education, judicial cooperation, and avenues for strengthening academic collaboration.
Prof. Bajpai also made a significant academic contribution by presenting his research paper, “Labeling the Innocent: A Criminological Analysis of Wrongful Prosecution,” which generated engaging scholarly discussions on criminal justice and wrongful prosecution. In recognition of his expertise, he chaired a technical session on Criminal Law, facilitating meaningful deliberations among distinguished participants.
