Prof (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai participated in the United Nations Global Dialogue on AI Governance, held in Geneva, Switzerland, on 6-7 July 2026.

The high-level forum, organized by the United Nations with the support of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU, brought together governments, international organizations, industry leaders, academia, and other key stakeholders to shape the future of global AI governance.

At this significant high-level forum, Prof. G.S. Bajpai met and interacted with several distinguished global leaders and experts, including Ms. Mary Robinson, the first woman President of Ireland, former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and former Chair of The Elders; Professor Balaraman B. Ravindran, Head of the Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI and Founding Head of the Centre for Responsible AI (CeRAI) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras; Mr. Camille Grenier, Executive Director of the Forum on Information and Democracy; Ms. Linda Bonyo, Founder of the Lawyers Hub and the Africa AI Policy Lab; Ms. Peggy Hicks, Director of the Thematic Engagement, Special Procedures, and Right to Development Division at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR); and Ms. Alison Gilwald, founding Director of Research ICT Africa and Adjunct Professor at the Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance, University of Cape Town, among other eminent dignitaries and thought leaders.

Ms. Jhalak Kakkar, Executive Director at the Centre for Communication Governance (CCG), NLU Delhi, represented the institutions at the United Nations Global Dialogue on AI Governance, held in Geneva on 6-7 July 2026. On the second day of the Dialogue, she spoke at a high-level panel on Thematic Discussion 4: Respecting, Protecting and Promoting Human Rights. The same day, CCG also organized an official side event on multistakeholder engagement in AI governance, held in collaboration with the Global Network Initiative (GNI), bringing together diverse stakeholders to deliberate on inclusive approaches to AI governance.

The Dialogue served as a significant international platform for advancing cooperation on the governance of artificial intelligence. Through inclusive and forward-looking discussions, participants exchanged knowledge, shared emerging best practices, and explored collaborative approaches to promoting the responsible, ethical, and trustworthy development and deployment of AI.

Prof. G.S. Bajpai, along with the CCG Team, was also invited by the Permanent Mission of India in Geneva during the ongoing UN Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence. The event brought together distinguished policymakers, diplomats, experts, and institutional leaders to reflect on the emerging global architecture of AI governance. It was an honour to attend a gathering that featured Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs, Government of India, among several other eminent participants.
